Topic: Umlaut problem?

Hello Chris.

I was looking at https://data.nbn.org.uk/Taxa/NHMSYS0020971621 (you can guess why).

The authority appears as 'Siphona maculata St?ger, 1849', where the '?', I assume, replaces an 'a Umlaut'.  Elsewhere in the synonymy the name appears with an 'ae'.

Re: Umlaut problem?

That's a good one Murdo - I'm surprised I hadn't spotted it myself but I try to pretend that Siphona don't exist! ;)  But seriously, I have amended the authority - it wasn't an umlaut but a "ae" character - as in "Stæger" that was causing the system to hicup! Many thanks, Chris R.

[apologies for the delay in fixing this but I was distracted by having to stand in for someone and help run the Big Nature Day event at the NHM ... it all went well so now normal service has been resumed!]
