Topic: Eudonia/Dipleurina

Today's inconsistency relates to

Eudonia crataegella Panzer, NBNSYS0000026863

which should be referred to

Dipleurina lacustrata (Panzer, 1804) [Little Grey], NBNSYS0000146207.

In R6 the R3.3 list returns the opposite - Dipleurina lacustrata is referred to Eudonia crataegella.  The other lists seem OK.

Hi Murdo

I don't have my copy of the new Lep checklist handy but I will get this one swapped round if necessary. :)

Re: Eudonia/Dipleurina

Hi Murdo

What we have in the UKSI agrees with Agassiz, Beavan & Heckford so the master taxonomy (Nameserver & Organism) is correct, even if the old Recorder 3.3 list is out of date. The NBNG seems to be out of sync because it just hasn't updated the taxonomy for about a year :)

Best wishes,
Chris R.

Re: Eudonia/Dipleurina

OK, Chris.  As long as you know where the problem lies.  It is annoying at the least to have different taxonomies operating in Recorder and NBNG, but I know that is not your fiefdom (and there are far more fundamental problems with G5 anyway).

In passing, the Tachinids have started in the far north - Cyzenis albicans and G. viridis only so far, but I live in hope for some Botria.

Re: Eudonia/Dipleurina

Good news on the tachinid front - it's been a slow start here. I saw a few Gymnocheta a few weeks ago but not many and before that just a Eumea linearicornis. Part of the joys of being a recording scheme organiser though is that you get to see and hear about all the exciting things that other people have caught around the country ;)
