Re: Species Dictionary - notification of staff change

Dear all,

As many of you already know, I will soon be leaving the Species Dictionary Team to work on a Big Lottery Funded project named Open Air Laboratories (OPAL - a community-based science project). I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all for your input over the past months.

The team will continue to contribute to this forum, but please direct any other enquiries that you have to speciesdictionary@nhm.ac.uk, rather than to my personal email address.

Best wishes,
John

John, good luck with the new venture. What will you be working on exactly?

Re: Species Dictionary - notification of staff change

Just to reassure everyone that it is 'business as normal' with respect to the Species Dictionary service. I shall be stepping down off my management perch to take on the day-to-day operations - although I am also talking to senior managers at the Museum to arrange additional help with running the project.

John is still in the same room (sitting opposite me) but has now moved from being in the Library and Information Services Department to become a member of the Botany Department.  He is being employed as Project Manager for OPAL (which is a 5-year 11.7 million pound project, led by Imperial College). John will be managing 4 projects (out of a total of 31 within OPAL). You can expect to hear a lot about OPAL in the future (it includes a roject toi help support amateur societies), but it is only just starting up and there is not much to report yet.
