Re: Moth Names Required In Dictionary

Charles,

In the "Moths Count Newsletter 2008 on page 09 there is an article entitled "Additions to the British list from 2000 onwards" by Mark Parsons of Butterfly Conservation.  The following moth names contained within the article are currently missing from the Dictionary - could they please be added asap:

Bradley No.  Common Name           Scientific Name             First Date

1921a          Dusky Scalloped Oak   Crocallis dardoinaria           2006
1965a          Common Forest Looper Pseudocoremia suavis      2007
2058a          Patton's Tiger               Hyphoria testudinaria          2005

                    Ramie Moth                  Arcte coerula                     2000

Also a common name of "Langmaid's Yellow Underwing" needs adding to the species entry for Noctua janthina which was taken in 2001 at Southsea, Hampshire.

Authors and Dates:

- Paysandisia archon (Burmeister, 1880)
- Crocallis dardoinaria (Donzel, 1840)
- Pseudocoremia suavis Butler, 1879
- Hyphoria testudinaria ???????????
- Methorasa latreillei Duponchel, 1827

- Apantesis phalerata Harris, 1841
- Chrysodeixis eriosoma (Doubleday, 1843)

It seems Les Hill did request at least some of these additional names here:  http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=2827

Cheers and thanks

Re: Moth Names Required In Dictionary

I'm working on this list - quite a tricky one to track down the correct names & authorship because many are missing from UK sites. Quite a few of the scientific names had already been added by Charles but the common names look new so I will add those and patch them in :)
