Looks like this may be to do with indexing of the Species Dictionary done by the Gateway Team. I shall alert them to this issue.

The trinomial names for the Dolerus species are listed in the recommended species list "Checklist of British and Irish Hymenoptera Symphyta". These are the recommended names for the species in the NBN species dictionary eg "Dolerus (Poodolerus) aeneus". They are also listed as binomial names eg Dolerus aeneus in Recorder 3 species list. These are treated as synonymous names by the NBN Gateway and web services and that is why when you select Dolerus aeneus the preferred name Dolerus (Poodolerus) aeneus is returned.

However this Recorder 3 list does not contain Dolerus fumosus and so you can't currently use it to link to the preferred name Dolerus (Poodolerus) fumosus. To do this what would be needed is to add Dolerus fumosus to the species dictionary and link it in the nameserver to Dolerus (Poodolerus) fumosus
