Re: Requirement for Sarcoptic Mange Mite in Dictionary

Charles,

Can you please add the Sarcoptic Mange mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) (otherwise known as the "Itch Mite") to the Dictionary.  This mite causes Sarcoptic Mange in Foxes and is common in many 'town' fox populations.

Details for the species are as follows:

- Sarcoptes scabiei  De Geer, 1778

Kingdom:     Animalia
Phylum:     Arthropoda
Class:     Arachnida
Subclass: Acari
Order:     Sarcoptiformes
Family:     Sarcoptidae

See over at:  http://www.thefoxwebsite.org/disease/diseasemange.html

and:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcoptes_scabiei

Not that uncommon in stray dog populations and even some rural foxes either.

And I can vouch, both for the itch, and that it is fully capable of infesting humans too (when it is known as scabies). I can provide a (not very recent) record if anyone is collecting them.

Too much information perhaps?
