Re: Western Conifer Seed Bug - Leptoglossus occidentalis

Charles,

Over the weekend (Sat 11th Sept / Sun 12th Sept 2010) one of our moth trappers in the rECOrd area caught a Western Conifer Seed Bug in his trap in Widnes.  I cannot seem to find it on the Dictionary !!  Is it there and can you point it out to me ?? If not could you please add it to the Dictionary:

- Western Conifer Seed Bug - Leptoglossus occidentalis, Heidemann, 1910

It appears to have been found in Italy in 1999 and since then has colonised much of Europe including France.  There are records from Weymouth in 2007. See over at:

Cheers

Re: Western Conifer Seed Bug - Leptoglossus occidentalis

Charles,

I have just re-checked the NBN Taxonomy Search facility at:

http://data.nbn.org.uk/nbnexamples/ws-t … esults.jsp

and found that this species IS on the Dictionary - (was I mis-typing earlier ??  I don't know).  So, my apologies for that - However, the English/Common name of "Western Conifer Seed Bug" still needs adding to the Dictionary as a synonym for this species.

The current entry on the Dictionary is:

Leptoglossus occidentalis, Heidemann, 1910 - NHMSYS0020476639 - insect - true bug (Hemiptera)

Cheers and thanks.
