Just noticed that the 'Short names' for some designations (from Taxon_Designation_Type) seem very long (e.g. the W&CA ones).  When extracting species with lots of designations (e.g. bats, otter) through the report wizard and exporting to Excel the concatenated field for these gets past 255 characters for some species and designations get cut off. Makes for a big problem in exporting/reporting this information in the most frequently used software. Could these long 'short names' not be shortened?

As Sally has mentioned I am looking into populating the abbreviation field (and will post this on the forum for feedback before it is implemented) and can look at the short names at the same time.
