Re: Boundaries from Natural England.

This is probably a naive question but :
In the Recorder Help under "Importing polygons" it says

Note: A variety of boundaries are available for downloading from the Natural England web-site, e.g. NNR (Natural Nature Reserve) boundaries for a specified 100 KM square.

So I went to the NE site, downloaded and extracted the files for SSSI boundaries in my 100 km square. But    ........... the extracted files are meaningless to me e.g MAP, TAB and ID files. I rather assumed that they would be a series of files in a format which could be imported into Recorder. No such luck.

The question is, is it possible to get SSSI boundaries from this data, without access to a GIS system?

Re: Boundaries from Natural England.

You have downloaded the files in MapInfo native format, which is not one of the ones supported by Recorder 6 for import (unfortunately).

Go back to the NE site and download the maps in ESRI shape format which is directly importable into Recorder.
