I've been asked to supply these in a moth data update to our County Moth Recorder. My original update only included the preferred taxon name (and no codes) as it came from the R6 report wizard and I'd forgotten the original request for B&F numbers.  Does anyone else supply their moth data in this way, and if so how do you export it?

I've looked in the back-end and tried to query the preferred Lepidoptera checklist to pull out the LST ITM CODE (as was suggested in another post I saw) for each TLVK/TLIK but many of the LST_ITM_CODE fields are empty so I don't know how reliable it is. e.g.the entry for Acontia nitidula (Brixton beauty) is empty in this field, but the taxon dictionary browser lists the code for it as 2417.

Am I going about this all wrong or is there something up with this field?

Hello Purgle,

I don't think you are going wrong. I have used taxon_list_item.lst_itm_code for referencing the Brad No. I have come across the same issues with missing numbers and incorrect ones as well, However, having said that the majority that I have encountered have been ok. I have got an sql query that I use to generate moth lists for surveys. This is not on a large scale but for moths that had been previously recorded so it provides a check sheet for future surveys. It is not the tidiest and and lots of 'commented out' lines but I would be happy to send it to you if it was of any help.

I guess what really needs to happen is to go through the existing data on recorder compare with the published book, correct and then update the dictionaries in Recorder. In the meantime its a process you have to do yourself when you extract this information.

Thanks, if you could send it to me that would be potentially useful in future. My CMR has found a way around it so I'm not re-visiting it for the time being.

I'd still like someone to explain to me where the number 2417 is coming from if its not in the column it's supposed to come from! And is this likely to be sorted out in future so it can be easily used?
