... using Report Wizard. I am currently having no success at all extracting taxon records for a place using the Report Wizard. The 'last error' message relating to my most recent attempt is as follows:

Please can someone shed some light on what is going wrong here to a relatively new Recorder user?

Many thanks.

Re: Problem reporting on taxon records for a place ...

Hi Paul

Does this happen if you try a really simple set of attributes, e.g. just the sample date, spatial ref and taxon name? Or does it only happen when you introduce a certain attribute into the report?

Re: Problem reporting on taxon records for a place ...

Hi John,
This seems to be happening with queries of all complexities - but not necessarily consistently. I successfully extracted all Wood Warbler records from the database yesterday but was unable to report on species recorded in my back garden! The crux of it seems to be when I ask for a 'report about a place' using the wizard. It doesn't matter whether the site has a complex sub-site heirarchy or whether its a simple, single tier site, or whether I'm asking for a single species or a large suite. If I search by taxon record, it seems OK. This is really driving me to distraction at the moment and is preventing me from responding to external data requests.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paula
Just wondering if this still happens, and if it occurs in the latest version of Recorder, 6.15.4?

John - on 6.16.2.241 I get the same error. Steps to reproduce using the report wizard:

1. Report about a place <-- this appears to be the cause.
2. Place names
3. Select a single location
4. Include taxon information
5. Selected information
6. All taxa from list
7. Select a designation that will pull out some species
8. New layout
9. Select multiple attributes <-- and this appears to be the cause.
10. No sorting

Selecting only one attribute does not appear to trigger the error (unless you click continue on error handler dialog, and go back and uncheck all but of the attributes - I guess some SQL tables/indices aren't cleared - if you don't quit recorder, the error seems to keep appearing regardless)

Re: Problem reporting on taxon records for a place ...

Charlie,
Thanks very much for the detailed report. You are right, the problem stems from certain combinations of attributes when used for a place report. I've fixed it in the code so this should work in the next release of Recorder.
Best wishes
