Re: Batch update entered_by?

Hello,

I often import data for other people (import requires an english windows version which is not generally available in our (flemish) institute). Afterwards they are not allowed to edit their own data because they are not recognized as data owner. I wondered if there is some kind of batch update to change the entered_by field?

Thanking you in advance.

Re: Batch update entered_by?

It isn't the entered by field, but the Custodian field which determines data ownership. How exactly are you doing this ?  Are you importing using the import Wizard, then supplying the data as a Recorder export file that they can import  into their system ?

Re: Batch update entered_by?

Hello Mike,

we use Recorder in a network environment. It is accessed via citrix by all our users, so the Custodian does not really matter I think. I use the import wizard. Unfortunately there are some datasets that I imported under my own login. A user with access level 'full edit own data only' is not allowed to change these records. In the meantime, I learned to login as the data owner for which I am importing, it saves me a lot of trouble afterwards. I guess it will be best to delete and reimport the datasets with the right login.
But thank you for replying.

I see, you don't use the application in  the same way we usually do here. A batch update to change entered by is a distinct possibility. If you save the filter file when you do the import this can be used to change the entered by.  Some thought needs to go into which table you need to change, but the actual batch update  would just be  parameters to identify the required file and  the users and simple queries to do the update
