Re: Recorder 6 and NBN Record Cleaner

Does anyone have experience yet with the recently issued NBN Record Cleaner program from Stuart Ball? I have downloaded, installed and used this on a Recorder 6 (v 6.16.2.241) installation running on a computer with XP. Everything works perfectly.
When I do the same on a Recorder 6 (v 6.16.2.241) installation on a laptop running Windows 7, I get a problem. This is the sequence:-

Open Record Cleaner
Data Load > select Recorder 6 > Reload from Registry > Open Connection

At this point I get a message..."Login failed for user NBNUser"

Does anyone know what I need to do to get around this problem??

Re: Recorder 6 and NBN Record Cleaner

It is not compatible with 64-bit Windows 7 and so doesn't run on Home Edition. Apparently it does work on 32-bit  Windows 7 (so I'm told), so it should also run on the Professional version which has a 32-bit emulator. Personally I'm reluctant to pay the extra £100 until someone tells me they have tried it and it works.

Re: Recorder 6 and NBN Record Cleaner

I had similar problems on Windows7 64 bit but have got it to work. My SQL Server 2005 database was set up to use SQL Server Authentication and on Windows7 there was a problem with the user password being remembered (all down to permissions). I set up a new user on the SQL Server who used Windows Authentication instead (in Management Studio - Security - Logins - right click "Login" and choose New Login). At the new login window, click the Search button beside the login name and if you are on a network, you will need to click the Location button and browse to your network User folder and search for the Windows user within this folder.

I then added that user to the database NBNData (Databases - NBNData - Security - Users - right click "New User" and pick up this new login) with the same database role membership as NBNData and saved this.

Then when I went into the NBN RecordCleaner, chose Recorder 6 and Reload from Registry, I edited the bit of the string that says "Trusted_Connection=no;User ID=NBNUser;password=nbnpassword;" to "Trusted_Connection=yes;" and opened the connection and it worked from there. You only have to do this once and it is saved into the config file for future use.

Re: Recorder 6 and NBN Record Cleaner

Thanks Janet, David for your responses. I will have a go at David's solution and see how it goes,

Re: Recorder 6 and NBN Record Cleaner

Thanks, David, I'll try this as well.

I've also tried to run it against excel spreadsheets. It gets through the
column selection and tries to perform the various checks but fails with a
series of object reference errors and rejects all the records.
