Re: Recorder2002 error now R6 running...

HI,

We have just installed a copy of Recorder 6 on the same machine as R2K, as suggested, to run in parallel to try it out.

Now that I have opened R6 and imported a block of data, I cannot access R2002 (it was fine until I imported data - I could access both).  When I go to open this, I get the following:
Exception EOleSystem Error in module R2000.ex_ at 0012559D
Error Accessing OLE registry

Any suggestions on what I should do now? or what may have gone wrong?

Re: Recorder2002 error now R6 running...

Hi Louise

It appears that this post has slipped through my net! I usually check the forum everyday but missed this one for some reason.

Did you manage to sort this problem out?

One thing to bear in mind when you have both Recorder 2002 and Recorder 6 installed (if using the same SITE ID) is not to enter data into Recorder 6 until you have transferred all of your data from Recorder 2002 - as if you do add records to Recorder 6 these will be overwritten when you transfer your Recorder 2002 data.

Please let me know if you are still having problems.

Many thanks,

Sarah

Re: Recorder2002 error now R6 running...

NO - I ended up removing R6 from the machine - we were never able to get the two to run side-by-side.

I now have R2002 on one machine, and a volunteer work-station with our trial of R6 on it.  I would actually like to be able to import some of the data I have in R2002 onto the R6, to be able to play around with it and get used to what it is like, but I am unable to get anything to import if I do it the following way.....

I take a survey in R2002 and do an export to get a zipped file which  I then try and import to R6, and always get a large number of rejected items, for various reasons.  The import never goes beyond assessing these, never allowing an import.  So I gave up before my recent leave and haven't had chance to mess around with it again.

Any ideas on how I can best approach getting a copy of some/all of our R2002 data into R6 as they are on different machines?

I had been thinking of posting this up, and was about to do it when I saw your message replying to my first question.

Re: Recorder2002 error now R6 running...

The problem is probably due to add-ins. When you install R6, it grabs the add-ins installed in R2K2. Then when you try and load R2K2, it can't load its add-ins and thus you get the error. If you remove the add-ins from R6 and re-add them to R2K2, it should work again.

Re: Recorder2002 error now R6 running...

Hi Louise

There could be a few reasons why your data isn't importing successfully.

See the following thread for more details, particularly a post from Stuart Ball (JNCC) http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=36

This will hopefully help you work through any issues that are stopping you from transfering data, but if I can be of any further assistance please let me know.

Kind regards,

Sarah
