Re: Windows 7 Installation

I have just attempted a Windows 7 installation, having looked at the forum posts on the subject. Although I changed  the installation folder I am still having problems. Recorder opens when I run it for the first time, but not thereafter. It is failing with the message "EOLE - exception cannot open database. Have I missed something ?

Re: Windows 7 Installation

I think some of the instructions have been missed out in previous posts and the problem you have is caused by using Windows Authentication for the installation. If you do this then you have to use Surface Area Configuration to grant Admin. rights to your login.  Without these rights you will find you can still run Recorder by right clicking on the icon and choosing run as administrator.  It is best to use the sa login with a password when installing under Windows 7. If you are not worried about the password then 'Recorder6' meets the criteria. To summarise
the Windows 7 installation.

1. When prompted for an installation path enter a new path (say C:\ProgramData)
2. Use the sa login with a password (say Recorder6)
3. Run Recorder for the first time as soon as installation is complete and while you still have Admin permissions.
4. It is adviseable when running upgrades or doing dictionary updates to run the programs as adminstrator.
