Re: Error updating dictionary

A partner and record supplier of ours is also an R6 user. He has version 6.15.4 but his dictionary is at level 1 (!). We have been trying to update his dictionaries - to level 2 to start with - but when we follow the procedure and run the Dictionay Upgrade Kit (version 3), we get the error shown below:

I am certain that we are following the correct procedure because I familiar am with updating the dictionaries on our own copy (which is at level T). The partner is running on MSDE. Could he be missing an ODBC DSN? Does anyone know if there is a requirement for a certain DSN to be present?

Re: Error updating dictionary

Hi Rich
No, there are no DSN requirements as Recorder builds a connection to the database directly using an OLEDB connection string, configured from the registry settings for Recorder 6 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dorset Software. Are you using a SQL Server account or Windows Account to login?

Re: Error updating dictionary

Hi John,

We used the 'sa' login without any password - as suggested on the JNCC dictionary downloads page ("With a default instance of MSDE installed by Recorder 6 you can use the 'sa' login with the password left blank") and the login appears to work okay. Any ideas?

Re: Error updating dictionary

Well, that is true if the instance was installed by Recorder 6 and has not been changed. You could try the other option to login with the Windows Account when logged in as a local machine administrator.
