Management of recording schemes is provided in recorder 6 by Export filters and Recording Scheme Export. This should be able to deal with a satellite system providing data to a central system and the central system providing data to a satellite. The way in theory it should work is that you set up a filter for the Taxonomic Group, Survey or other criteria applicable. In the case of the Moth records you should be able to use the filter on taxonomic group. The first time you do the export to the scheme you use the 'Export Using filter' option. This will not export invalid or unchecked records. Once you have done this export you must not delete any records for the group from Recorder (in fact it is a good idea not to delete any records once you have started exporting data) . You can make changes, so you can change the determination or add a new one. Instead of deleting records you need to change the determination type to Incorrect. For future exports you need to set up a Recording Scheme using the filter of the original export. This can then be used just to send changes. Using the Recording Scheme export will send invalid records. It is worth securing the file generated until confirmation is received that the data has been received and successfully imported. XML reports on the imported data could be used to provide a tighter control. .
While the above should work in theory, there are currently a number of issues which mean that it does not work as smoothly as it should, Firstly, the initial export can take a very long time 24 to 30 hours on some machine for the 173,000 records you have, or it may not work. The only solution to this is to break down the initial transfer into a number of smaller chunks, say by date or survey. The export filters do allow you to do this, or you can use a series of XML reports to break down the data.
Unfortunately there is another problem in that the filter on taxonomic group is unreliable, which affect both the initial export and subsequent recording scheme exports. At the moment it is Dictionary list based so you need to have a separate entry in it the filter list for every Dictionary list used, but even if this wasn't the case it could exclude certain Records because of Dictionary issues. In particular if you have used Dictionary lists which do not have a taxonomic hierarchy (eg List of Additional Names) then you need to identify individual taxa for these in the filter. In version 6.16 the taxonomic group will pick up all dictionaries and hopefully the dictionary issues will be resolved, but at the moment there is no simple workaround to these problems.
