Re: Filter on File Code?

Is it possible to filter on File Code (see Locations > General tab).  I wish to create reports on species present at sites within the Yorkshire & Humber region.  I have records for some 5000 sites within this region, the boundary of which is part VC, part modern county and part self-defined.  The sites are identified by various file codes.

I don't think so via the report wizard, but it should be fairly easy to do using  xml reports.  What fields do you want in the output ?.  There may well be  existing reports which can easily be modified to do what you require. For example does report LN1 in Geographic Area -Location reports/Location Name Reports  give the output you require ?  If so I could add the file code as a parameter to this for you.

Thanks. I'm afraid I know almost nothing about R6. I use R3, and I'm thinking ahead to when I might transfer my 130k records to R6, possibly at the end of the year.  I have R6 v. 6.13.3 on my PC ( I haven't yet installed the v. 6.15.4 that you sent me last week). Where is LNI, please?  I have found an Ln1 report in Reports > Run > JNCC > Location Name Reports.  Is that the one?  The minimum information I would want to extract, filtering on file code if you could make that possible, is site name, grid ref, species name, collector and date.

edit:  PS. I would want to be able to export the data in .csv, .txt or .xls format

Sorry I did mean LN1.

XML reports are a way in which users can develop and share reports. They provide a way of reporting on data which is not accessible  via the report wizard and there isn't much that can't be done with XML reports one way or another.

The reports you get via Reports/Run are those which are system supplied. New reports can be added  by placing the file in the user file/report folder of Recorder 6.  When an XML  is run the end result is the same as a report wizard report and you have the same ability to save the  reports in various formats as with the Report Wizard.

I have  put a report based on LN1 on my web site at www.Lfield.co.uk/downloads/LC_BobMerritt_1.zip. Close Recorder and unzip and copy this into the user files/reports folder. When you open Recorder the report should appear in the menu list under 'Bob Merritt' when you use  Reports/Run. Adapting this report  to add new fields etc. would be fairly easy to do.
