Re: Import NBN zipped problems

I am just setting up a local recorder with Recorder 6 and transferring his records to him

Using the Export to NBN Access Database (zipped) format the export went smoothly with no errors, but on trying to import the data on the destination machine I get the following error:

"Unexpected table 'SURVEY_TAG' in import file, Import aborted"

I have tried adding adding display Survey by TAG in the destination machine without any success, but didn't have time to try switch off display survey by TAG in the source machine and rerunning the export, which I'd prefer not to do unless I know it will cure the problem since the export takes a long time.

Irrespective of the solution, there needs to be some way of trapping this error within Recorder cleanly, rather than this terminal "abort"

Re: Import NBN zipped problems

This is a known problem when exporting data and transferring custody – see http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=5547#p5547 . As Mike says in a following post you can get around it by removing the tables in the import file. Unzip it, use Access to remove the tables listed in Janet’s second post, zip it up again and try importing the new zip file. To be safe, I would check that the tables you are deleting only contain things relating to survey tags. If they contain anything not related to tags, delete the entries related to tags but not the whole table. Survey tags are a data management tool. They are system specific and so shouldn’t be transferred from one copy of Recorder 6 to another. This is a bug which has been logged for fixing but it only causes problems when transferring custody.
