Hi all,

I've been trying to delete a survey all day with no success with either the Delete Survey Addin (6.0.0.29) or the latest Delete Records Batch Update utility. Lots of disk/CPU activity then after a couple of minutes this all stops and R6 doesn't respond any further. I've killed the process numerous times now, the longest after about an hour. I've deleted far larger surveys of ~700,000 in less than 10 minutes.

I'm running the latest version of Recorder 6/Dictionary. The survey of 118,000 occurrences is Channel Islands data imported with a bespoke Addin for the purpose.

It is imperative this survey is deleted as it contains incorrect data, so I'm having to try again overnight. If this doesn't work I'll need to escalate for a fix.

I hoping running this overnight will work (but not really acceptable) and I'll add an update tomorrow morning.

I can't immediately see why the Batch Update isn't working. I have tested it in 6.5 and it works on my  test data,  and as you say it has previously worked on far bigger Surveys. Please can you try deleting just a SurveyEvent via quick  Batch Updates  (right click on the Survey Eventand select Batch Updates).  This may throw some light on why the full update isn't working.

Hi Mike, thanks for coming back to me...

I'm delighted and relieved to advise the Survey I attempted to delete overnight is now deleted with the Batch Update. However, I have no idea how long it ran for.

OK Mike, I'll run some tests for you on a copy of the NMRS database on surveys of various sizes and advise my results.

Pleased to hear you have managed to delete the Survey.  Thank you for offering to test the time it is taking to delete Surveys. If  you  do find that they are taking longer than resonable to delete  we can look into it further.

I haven't got around to doing the testing yet, I've been very busy getting the forthcoming macro-moth provisional atlas.
