Re: Backing up maps

I find Recorder has a nasty habit of messing up my maps and associated data (all I'm concerned with is imported & associated polygons) - is there anything I can back up in case Recorder or I make a mistake?

Re: Backing up maps

As well as updating tables in the database, the mapping system creates and updates files in the Object Sheet and  Map_Sheet folder. If you back up the Object_Sheet and Map_Sheet folders each time you back up the database you will be able to restore mapping. On a standalone system these  folders will normally be in the Recorder 6 folder.  On a network system you  also need to back up the Map_Sheet  folder from each workstation.

The Installation Guide provides more detail on the way mapping works and on the location of the various files.

Mike, where is the installation guide located? Is it the two documents found at the bottom of this page: http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-4595

Hi Charles,
That's right, but there is a Word document version of these files on the Installation CD in the Documents folder as well.
