Hi

When I try and add a base map under Map Options I get the following error message:
Error code -5 : File access denied - C:\Program Files\Recorder6\Map Files\GBandIreland.gsf


This type of thing has been mentioned on a previous post and was described as probably a 'permissions' problem:

Unfortunately I can't find anything on how to resolve it.  Any help much appreciated!

(I'm running Recorder 6.15.4.238 on a Windows 7 laptop)

As with Vista,  Windows 7 considere the Program Files folder a special case and you need to be Administrator to use it . Try opeing Recorder by right clicking on the Recorder 6 icon and choosing Run as Administrator. If you can  add the base Map, then permissions on the Program Files folder is your  problem. 
A solution is explained at  http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=1489.  Alternatively, if you haven't yet put any data into R6 you can uninstall  it and  reinstall it, changing the default folder to something else. If you do this I suggest you create the folder first before installing Recorder and make sure you can copy files into it.   Then take care whe installing Recorder to specify your new folder instead  of Program Files.
