Re: Broken taxon dictionary
It seems that we have some dictionary problems. Recently we have been working with sally rankin and have found that a number of checkliists do not have the correct number of species. The beetles are particularly badly affected. One checklist has more enteries than would be expected and another is on their but should have been removed at a later update.
The obvious thing is that I didn't carry out one of the updates - 000000007 for the beetles at least. However this problem occurs on both of our standalone versions which are upgraded seperately. The obvious answer is that I forgot to do it on both occasions though I don't think that is the case.
Enough of problems. Before going for the safe solution and asking Mike Weideli to transfer the databases to a system with a complete taxon dictionary I wondered about applying the missing updates at a later stage. On a test system I have applied the 00000007 upgrade (renaming it 00000000O) and the bettle have appeared. The idea would then be to to edit the entry in table that shows the last dictionary update back to N so the official 0000000O can be used. The question is, is this in any way a valid, safe or sensible thing to do or are we just better off asking fro Mike to help.
