We recently upgraded 2 stand-alone systems with Rec 6.14.4.212 and now there is a problem with saving. 

When we use a recording card “enter species for place” and then save it, it brings up error messages.

I have found out that it DOES save the records, but if I press continue application, it reverts to the full recording card. Reset button is not available, and the only way to refresh the recording card is to close it and start all over again (with all the date/ recorder/grid ref data to put in again). It makes it so laborious.  Also it is easy to save the same data more than once.

“Enter species for place” card does save properly, but this one won’t close without closing the whole of recorder !

Does anyone else have problems like this, or are they all our own?!

Any suggestions?

(On 1 machine the 'exception class' is ErapidTreeError
and the 'exception message' is : GetItem:list index out of bounds (%d)

on the other machine it is EAcessViolation   
and 'Access violation at address 00589DAC in module'RecorderApp.exe')'

I have seen this problem before (in 6.13) but cannot seem to reproduce it now. Have you made any progress since posting the error?

For information, your first error message was also posted here: http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=1049 and was fixed by rebuilding the indexes.

No progress unfortunately. About 5% of the time it doesn't happen, so I wondered if it is triggered by some key stroke or other.

I dont think you are alone.

Ive had reports of record cards crashing regularly - or at least the error message appearing.
While this doent seem to stop the records going into the database, it is annoying, and stops the record form being cleared.

Ive just been experiencing the issue first hand on 6.14.5. I shall continue to prod it.

Hi,

I just wanted to say that I have a similar problem when using records cards. I am using version 6.14.5.218. When I first save the records using a record card then there is no error message. However when I try to re-use this card for another set of records without closing it then I will get an error message when saving the records and although it seems to save the records it doen't clear the card. This error happens very consistently and I can easily reproduce it.

I've managed to reproduce this myself, so I've logged it in the official list of bugs. Hopefully it can be fixed in a release soon.

I've noticed that the error only happens when the survey window showing the records is open. This error does not happen when the survey window is closed.

The access violation when entering data via recording cards has been investigated and should be fixed in 6.15.
6.15 is currently in its final testing phase and will be released as soon as possible.

We have just experienced this error in v6.15, exactly as described above.  The survey window was open, so we tried again with it closed and found that the error was not repeated.

Clearly whatever was causing it has not been fixed.

We thought it had been fixed in 6.15 as it could not be repoduced in testing, but apparently not.  It needs further investigation, perhaps the clue is in having the Survey window open.
