Re: Comments on single record entry

I have discovered that the "Comments" field on the "single species record" entry form places its contents into the "Sample Comment" field - this is fine where there is only one species for the sample, but if there are two species then the comment from the first record gets put in the Sample Comment and the comment from the second appears to be ignored (note - this could be the other way around, but the important fact is my records are being corrupted!)

Three solutions:
1) the Single Species Record form should make it clear that the comment will be attached to the Sample
2) the comment should be stored in the correct field, i.e. Taxon_Occurrence Comment
3) the Single Species Record form should have TWO comments fields, one for Sample and one for Taxon_Occurrence

Re: Comments on single record entry

Further to the above, I had to restart Recorder because of an unrelated problem and on restarting, the Taxon_Occurrence field now contained the comment as well as the Sample Comment - this is still not entirely correct, the sample should not contain the comment, but at least the records are no longer corrupt.

Has anyone else had this bug where the "General" tab on the Taxon Occurrence has data, but does not display it?

Re: Comments on single record entry

Just a thought on this.

Has anyone else had this bug where the "General" tab on the Taxon Occurrence has data, but does not display it?

What we do get is when you jump to an observation (from a report) but cant then edit the observation. To solve it you navigate out and then back (i.e. move to sample, then back to observation) - it refreshes the view and allows edit.
Maybe a similar 'refresh' thing going on with the comment.

Re: Comments on single record entry

There are a number of reproducible bugs associated with this issue which have been drafted and are awaiting fixes:

Comments for taxon occurrence entered into single record entry card end up in sample comments and taxon occurrence comments. All subsequent taxon occurrences entered retain their correct comments but the sample comments continue to reflect those of the first record.

The observations hierachy does not always refresh to show taxon occurrence comments as soon as a record has been entered using the single record entry card.

If the observations hierachy is open when a record is entered (method as above), an unhandled error occurs when attempting to view the record in the observations hierachy (although not with the first record in a sample).

Best wishes,
Mary

Re: Comments on single record entry

Did this ever get fixed?

It seems we are noticing the same issues still. (sample comment taking first observation).
[which does suggest we havent noticed them for the past year or two...Oh the backlog!]
