I have a problem that we have quite a few small sites with 10m grid refs. They have been imported but I cannot now save any edits. The system complains about the grid type being missing.

Why can I not use an accurate grid ref for a site?

Seems a little odd that I can locate something with a GPS/GIS but cannot say where it is in the database!

So even though I want to change the designation I cannot without removing the accuracy of the site. Funny R3 allowed one to record accurately and I though this was supposed to be an improvement. GPS/GIS didn't even exist when R3 was written!

Hi Tony
Which version of Recorder are you using? I managed to save sites with both 10m and 1m grid references just now. If you like you can export one of the sites and contact me through the link on the left and I will try importing it and editing it to see if I can work out why it is failing.

Hi Tony
I now realise that you were referring to the grid squares tab, not the site centroid, sorry, my mistake. You are indeed correct in that there is no 10m option for grid squares as I don't think it was expected that site grid squares would be recorded to this precision. You can of course select hectare and enter 10m precision though that is far from ideal.
I will ask JNCC to add this to the list of considerations for a future release.

Thanks John I was composing a note to look there and your reply came through. Thanks to Mary too.

I think it's from Quadrats that were added as sub-sites that or Veteran trees. I suspect there are other ways of dealing with both but I've not had a chance to look that far ahead as I'm still adding species data.
