Re: Export of tagged surveys

I have just been exporting my updated datasets from R6 for upload to NBN Gateway as NBN Exchange Format.

Two of my R6 surveys are in a tag.  I had hoped to export them both in one file by calling the export while the tag is selected (as I would for a single survey).

Nothing in the interface suggests that this is not permitted.  I am asked for the destination file, and the export initially runs the external validation checks on Sample and Survey.

Then it asks for the ancillary fields (Recorder, Determiner, etc.) to be exported, and when I OK that, everything instantly stops.  Not a crash or hang - it just stops, and the dialogue and main R6 windows can be closed as usual.  No file is created.

I have not been able to find in Help an explicit indication that tagged surveys *can* be exported in this way, but it seems that either the interface is unhelpful (if the action is illegal it should be trapped at the start, and not after some of the processing has been done), or there is a bug in R6 that does not allow the export to run to completion.

I using a stand-alone under Vista.

It works fine using an export filter defining the two surveys.

Re: Export of tagged surveys

Hi Murdo,

Yes this also seems to happen on XP (so this is not peculiar to Vista).
It appears to run ok but no file is created and the export window does not disappear (which I think it should). I will add this to our issue tracking system as something to either fix at start (ie not allowed therefore does not allow any processing) or as a feature request (I could see this could be useful).

best Wishes,
Lynn
