Re: Problems installing on XP X64

I have just tried to install Recorder 6 on to a Workstation running Windows XP x64 - right at the end of the install I got the error message cannot install MDAC 2.7, then something about programs and oreating system it requires not being present.

However, on closing the error message, the Recorder 6 icon has appeared and clicking on it all appears at first view to be working - am I going to have problems in future because of the failure of MDAC 2.7 - I have just realised I haven't yet installed Microsoft Office (hence no native support for Access) - could this be related to the error?

Re: Problems installing on XP X64

I have now installed Access, uninstalled Recorder 6 and tried to reinstall it, with the same error message, so it is not due to the absence of Access

Error Message:

MDAC 2.7 cannot be installed on this machine. MDAC 2.7 requires any one of the following configurations:

Microsoft Windows 98 with the Y2K Update 2 and Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2 or later
Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
Microsoft Windows Millennium
Microsoft NT(R) 4 SP5 (or greater) and IE 4.01 SP2 or later
Microsoft Windows 2000

Setup will exit now. Please restart the Setup after installing the necessary updates to this machine

I am running Windows XP x64 together with IE 6

Any advice gratefully received, as I have just tried to run an import and it falls over when trying to lookup species names, so it obviously hasn't been installed properly

Re: Problems installing on XP X64

This one can now be ignored as far as SER is concerned! We had so many problems with other software running on XP x64, I took it off and installed XP 32bit - Recorder has now installed correctly.
