Is there a problem with the delete survey add-in and 6.14? I had it working before the upgrade but now it just gives me the "Failed to delete survey!" error. I have tried removing survey tags, have checked that I have the latest version (6.0.0.25), and have tried reinstalling it, but still it gives the same old error message.

The survey to be deleted has 280,000 records. I'll try the batch update instead but it would be good to get the add-in working again. Any suggestions?

Hi Janet,

There doesn't appear to be a problem with the delete survey addin with 6.14. I have jsut tested this with the latest version and the survey deleted as expected. The addin was updated in August 2009 to work with survey tags. It may be worth checking your version has an August 2009 date or to uninstall the one you have and download the latest version again from the website just in case (http://forums.nbn.org.uk/recorderWebsite/Addins.htm). Other than that I'm not sure why its not working for you.

Hi Lynn,

It was already version 6.0.0.25 dated August 2009 before I reinstalled it last night. The reinstalled version, downloaded from the website, is the same. Both failed repeatedly so I'm afraid there is a problem. It's a pity it doesn't give any clues.

Just a thought - the survey I am trying to delete is maintained by someone else so I don't have custody of it.Could that be something to do with it? It worked on the same survey before the upgrade though.

Incidentally the batch update just deleted the survey without any problems so there doesn't seem to be an issue with the data.

Sad to say we're having a similar problem.

We hadn't used it before today, I downloaded the new Addin, installed it without any apparant problems. Interestingly it did work initially, and I was able to delete one survey. I then had problems deleting a second survey but after two or three attempts it worked. A third (larger, 15,000 or so records) survey, won't delete at all and all I get is a "Failed to Delete Survey!" message.

All were created locally and then populated via the import wizard from a excel spreadsheet.

I haven't set up any tags and the show by tags options isn't currently checked

I have finally managed to delete it using the Batch Update routine, "Del5" Delete Down from a level.

Any ideas what's going on?

In Cambridgeshire we are seeing the same issue with a large survey - the delete survey add-in, newest version will not delete a large survey (51600 events) but a small one of only dozens of events deleted perfectly well.

Is there a size issue?

Hi,

I have successfully deleted several large surveys - one with 39,574 taxon occurrences with 2,754 events and samples. Is the issue the large number of events in a survey? If so, could someone 'lend' me a very large survey to delete so that I can reproduce this please (I do not have access to larger surveys than this one mentioned).

Hi Lynn,

I'm deleting surveys with >100,000 taxon occurrences with no problems with the latest version. However, Stuart Ball may have an old CD of mine (nbndata) which should have large surveys on it - assuming Stuart is in the same building as you!

Thanks Les that would be helpful (I'll ask him if he can locate it) - thanks to Lothian I have managed to attempt surveys up to 63900 (with no porblems) and surveys with up to 10,330 survey events and 17,700 samples also with no problems (although one of a similar size took two attempts to delete it.

Les how many survey events do these surveys have that you have deleted do you know?

I have just deleted my biggest survey (and restored it!) with 83,043 Survey Events, 86,726 Samples and 705,958 Taxon Occurrences firtst time with no problems.

Recorder 6 is up-to-date and the version of my Delete Survey Add-In is 6.0.0.29.
