Re: Species Lists for a Polygon
It may already exist, but if so I have not found the way to produce a species list for a polygon.
Seems essential to have this capability... I certainly needed it today!

Reports P1 and P2 which are in Geographical area Reports/Polygon Reports produce a list of records within selected polygons. I have adapted one of these just to produce a list of species (taxa) within the selected polygons and put it on my web site at www.Lfield.co.uk/Downloads/LC1Polygon11.zip
While testing this I noticed a problem with creating a new polygon while running the report and then trying to use this immediately. This no longer seems to be working and needs further investigation. Creating the polygon before running the report does work.

MIke,
thank for sorting this so quickly, BUT...
When running this report and sorting by Taxonomic order I get this error..
"There is an error in the SQL code. The error message is :'ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified".
The same happens when sorting by Scientific Name.
It seems to work OK when selecting by both Taxon Group options, but there are duplicate species in the output AND fewer species than expected in the list.

Sorry, I missed the post somewhere along the road. Sorting by scientific order can be fixed easily by using notepad to alter the line <Orderby name="by Scientific Name" SQL="Order By ITN.preferred_name,s.vague_date_start"/> to
<Orderby name="by Scientific Name" SQL="Order By ITN.preferred_name"/>
The duplicates are caused by the fact that the report is on both actual names used for input, which may give rise to duplicate entries of the recommended names. I will have a look later at this and change the report, so that only recommended names are output.
The bigger question is why are species missing as there is nothing in the report which would account for this. Are your indexes (Index_taxon_Group etc.) up to date ?
