Re: Importing with v6.14.4.212

Hi

I have found an infuriating bug with the latest version. If I have some errors in an import file and then correct them, R6 seems to remember the first version of the file and at the first stage, verifying the column headings, it contains the erroneous data even after the data in the file have been corrected. Therefore, it becomes impossible to import data from file where the data have been corrected.

I tried to partially import another file to clear this 'memory' but that didn't work. I closed Recorder and started again, and that didn't work. How can such a dreadful bug have entered a new version when it has never been there before?

Please do a fix soon!

I look forward to hearing about a solution.

Cheers, Ian

Re: Importing with v6.14.4.212

Hi

It isn't 'remembering' - R6 does not allow the user to choose the worksheet within a workbook. I had what I wanted to import in a sheet called 'Records' with some old data with errors in a sheet 'Sheet 1'. It seems that Recorder will go for whatever is in 'Sheet 1' before anything else (and presumably would choose any numbered worksheet before a named worksheet). Is that true? I could try it myself one day...

Would it be possible to choose the worksheet within a workbook for the data to be imported within the Wizard? It took me a while to work out what was happening - okay, it may have been obvious to someone else!

Back to importing some data now...

Re: Importing with v6.14.4.212

Hi Ian,

The import wizard will only import data from the first sheet in the workbook. No data on other sheets will be imported. It does not matter if you rename sheet 1 but it would need to remain as the first sheet in the workbook to be imported. If you move sheet 1 to the second sheet in the workbook theimport wizard then imports sheet 2 (or whatever is now the first sheet in the workbook).

Presumably this means that the bug you reported is no longer an issue is that correct?
Thanks,
Lynn
