Re: Import wizard - importing two recorder names for one record

In the import wizard, I am having trouble assigning two or more recorders to one record.

I have the names formatted as "Smith, Joan A., Smith, John" and it won't recognise it as two recorders.

Any ideas would be really appreciated!

I've had similar problems and find the most reliable format is "Joan A.Smith, John Smith" - this should correclt attibute them to two records when imported

Re: Import wizard - importing two recorder names for one record

The import wizard will cope with one initial after the surname but no other options when putting things after the surname so it will cope with "Jones, A., Smith, J." but not "Jones, Alice, Smith, J. R." etc. In cases like these do as Craig recommends.

The wizard copes with multiple observers but not multiple determiners so if you see boxes containing more than one name at the observer/determiner matching stage of the wizard it will be because some of the records in the import file have more than one name in the determiner column.
