Re: Recorder 6 Startup Error

Hi

Anyone got any advice on how to deal wit the following startup error? I've had a good look through forums and can find similar but not specific reference to 'EOleException: Could not find stored procedure 'usp_DefaultUser_Get_Key'. Any help would be great. Hoping to avoid re-install as we are at the mercy of a very pedestrian IT department.

Thanks

Simon

Re: Recorder 6 Startup Error

Hi Simon,

Presumably you have just upgraded to 6.14.4?
This sounds like a specific stored procedure cannot be found in the database. Can you check whether the stored procedure is in the database - you need to use enterprise manager or management studio express to do this. In Management studio Express they are in Databases/NBNdata/Programmability/Stored Procedures. There should be one called 'usp_DefaultUser_Get_Key'. Also can you go to the settings table and tell me what the DBSeq entry is (you can look at this in Access as well as SQL server).

Thanks,
Lynn

Re: Recorder 6 Startup Error

Hi

Yup, just tried to upgrade yesterday. I can't open SETTING table as the error indicates I don't have rights, similar to problem when trying to upgrade. I'm now assuming when IT installed I didn't get appropriate admin rights granted. Given I may have to wait some tim eto speak to IT, is there any trick to getting round this?

Sorry, can you remmind me how to find and use enterprise manager or management studio express? Can't find the last thread it was mentioned in.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

Re: Recorder 6 Startup Error

Hi Simon,

Wondered if it might a permissions issue - that probably means that the stored procedure in question is actually there but you do not have rights to read it. It sounds like your system has been upgraded without the right permissions (from what you've mentioned so far). I'm afraid I don't know a work around in the meantime - especially if you need to do everything via your IT department. When you installed initially did you change the default locations for any of the folders?

If you have it installed it will be in your programs menu (Start/Programs) under Microsoft SQL server 2000/2005. If you do not ahve anything like this on your start menu you can download management studio from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?familyid=C243A5AE-4BD1-4E3D-94B8-5A0F62BF7796&displaylang=en  (I presume you are on SQL express/2005 rather than MSDE/2000?).

When you have it installed you simply click on it as you would open another program and it connects to your SQL server instance and you can then open the folders as described above to get to the stored procedures folder. Look down the list for the one that it is having problems with (they're in alphabetical order).

Best Wishes,
Lynn

Re: Recorder 6 Startup Error

Hi

Thanks Lynn. I'll see what IT say regarding access rights then get back on this thread if unsuccessful. Thanks again.

Do let us know how you get on - its really useful to post the solution as well as the problem for other users (I'm also documenting these for the new website).

Good luck
