Re: Duplication problem with importing from MapMate
I've been doing a lot of MapMate imports (500,000+ records) and have found occasionally the Recorder Import is not handling the records correctly and consequently creating duplicates.
I have had to re-import several datasets because this is the only way to move them from one survey to another if they are 'owned' by a MapMate CUK - on the whole this has worked fine, but on a few occasions Recorder has created duplicates instead of just 'moving' the records.
The explanations is that the normal format for the Recorder GUI is MMEEExxxEEEyyyyy where xxx is the CUK of MapMate and yyyyy is the rest of the MapMate GUK, however, in the duplicate records it has used the following format - MMEEExxx1EEyyyyy - the '1' following the CUK stops Recorder recognising the record already exists in my copy of Rec6
Can anyone explain why it is doing this - it is very annoying and often quite difficult to pick up the duplicates and is there a way of stopping it!
