Re: EOleException error

I'm wondering if anyone can help with an EOleException error that Recorder 6 gives at startup. The full error is:

EOleException cannot open database requested in login 'NBNData', login fails.

Recorder & SQL Server are both in installed on the local C drive of the PC.

Some people have suggested something missing or corrupt in the MS SQL directory but I didn't install Recorder myself so am not sure what the content of this directory should be.

Any advice gratefully received.

Re: EOleException error

Just some additional background.

Problems first started with an error referring to an nbdata_data.mdf file missing from C:\Windows\temp\temp. I recovered this file & placed it back in this location. I'm sceptical as to whether this file was significant as it
shows as 0 Kb.

It was then that we got the error, EOleException, cannot open database requested in login NBNData.

The C:\program files\SQL Server directory has no NBNData file & I'm wondering if there should normally be one there.

Thanks again.

Re: EOleException error

Hi Catherine,
The default folder for the Recorder data files is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data.  In here you should hopefully see a NBNData_Data.mdf (apporx  1GB)  file and an NBNData_Log.ldf file.  These are the database files that Recorder uses.

Are they present in your directory?  Also what version of Recorder are you using and is this a new install of Recorder or has it been in use for a while?

Cheers

Re: EOleException error

Simon, thank you very much for your help. The NBNData_Data.mdf file in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data was also 0 Kb. I tired to re-attach this using SQL Management Studio but this failed. However, a backup of Recorder had been made &, since I was unable to open Recorder itself, I had to use Management Studio to restore the database. This created a new NBNData_Data.mdf file & we were then able to access Recorder.
