Re: Recorder swapping surveys on SAVE?

We are encountering a problem here when using a record card - despite the survey being the correct one in the Survey window, the record is saved to a different survey for no good reason.

Anyone else noticing similar behaviour of wild survey swapping?

Re: Recorder swapping surveys on SAVE?

If you change the location, date and recorder on the recording card and then save, does it still change surveys?

Re: Recorder swapping surveys on SAVE?

Havent been able to study the Survey swapping again - but now we have 'Sample' swapping. Observations are being matched to dates and not locations when looking for a sample to be added too. (it would seem)

See doc.

The problems roll on.

Re: Recorder swapping surveys on SAVE?

Just to keep the world informed (I know you are riveted).

While we are still experienceing sample swapping (within and betwen surveys) when using the record cards for data entry - we have ascertained that the SAVE process matches both the date and the recorder but not the location, putting the observation in the first (?) match.

SO the get around is to use a different recorder.

Add individual with postfix '_2' and use them. This way there wont be a match for the date-recorder; at least not for a while.

After a period of using this dummy - merge the individuals and remove dummy name. Then start again with a new dummy.

At least thats the plan and it is working so far.

Re: Recorder swapping surveys on SAVE?

Matt,

We've had the problem with the wrong survey being attributed to the records from a recording card despite the original data being correct - if you find a permanent solution I'd be interested to hear!

That would sound like the same problem.

Where exactly are the records going - to a new event in a different survey?
Or to a previously created event in a different survey?

Lynn is on the case - but replicating the behaviour for her is proving to be difficult.

Re: Recorder swapping surveys on SAVE?

Matt,

When it occurred, it created a new Event in another Survey, however, when I moved the Event to the correct place, subsequent records were added to the correct event.

It has not occurred again, but we're having too much trouble with other more serios problems to spend too much time on this one

We will look into this and provide an update once we have a proposed solution.

Re: Recorder swapping surveys on SAVE?

A message from Lynn that this one is (hopefully) solved in 6.13.3;

I have just had news from Sam at Dorset on the survey swapping issue. Evidently they got to the bottom of the code that was causing the problem and inadvertently it has been fixed (by changing something else) for 6.13.3. So, in theory if you are on the latest version (6.13.3) then this issue should no longer arise. Obviously if it does occur I would like to know about it immediately please.
