Topic: Dictionary Upgrade 00000057

Upgrade 00000057  is now available from http://www.recorder6.info/page47.html   This update must be  be run from within Recorder 6 and requires version 6.29 or above.  A licence key is not required to access this update but  may be required in future see https://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=7472.

You should  backup your R6 DB before the update just in case of any major issues.

If you have run the new upgrade before and know how it works then you can go directly to the files at  http://www.recorder6.info/page50.html

It brings Recorder 6 into line with the UKSI at 1 November 2025.

Please run report DIct 2 and check that the figures are in line with those accessed by clicking on  additional information.  Please report here any differences.

If you have a large database I suggest that you do not use the option at the end of the process to update the four Indexes but do this as a separate process on each index. See R6 Tools/Database  Tools.http://www.recorder6.info/page50.html

Re: Dictionary Upgrade 00000057

Mike

Is it possible to provide a summary of the main highlights. e.g. Diptera updated to latest Checklist or incorporates updated Butterfly Red List? I.e. Similar to what the developers of MapMate used to do, just we have an idea of what's changed.

Many thanks

I will  ask Chris. It is difficult for me to tell. I think the main change in this is Lichen's.

Re: Dictionary Upgrade 00000057

Hi Mike,

On running the DIc2 report after upgrading to 00000057, all results are as they should be except for Taxon, which again outputs the same result as for Taxon_Version, i.e. 335130. These two results have been the same for the past few upgrades, I presume this continues to be ok?

Re: Dictionary Upgrade 00000057

As long as the Taxon count is higher than it should be then this does not indicate a problem.

Re: Dictionary Upgrade 00000057

Hi Mike, it might just be me but the link on the dictionary page doesn't trigger a download because it's pointing at http rather than https. Manually changing it works fine.

Re: Dictionary Upgrade 00000057

Hi Mike,
My results are different, they seem to have reverted to what version 00000056 should be which is strange as they were all bang on before the update?
Table_Name    Records
Taxon_List    249
Taxon    327288
Taxon_Version    333365
Taxon_List_Item    749780
Organism    124211

this is the first time we have carried out an update without our IT department being involved so I ran the xmldic2 before and after the update. Should I try updating again?
