Topic: Changes to the download reasons on the NBN Atlas

Hi,

We have changed the download reasons when users download records to:

a) Public
Download is for personal use only
b) Volunteer researcher/publisher
Download may lead to amateur (non-funded) publication, which could include National or Local scheme collators and verifiers
c) Professional researcher/publisher
Download may lead to professional publication (including universities, NGOs etc. where people are being paid to research and publish)
d) Commercial
Download is for purposes of fulfilling a commercial contract
e) Statutory
Download is by a government-linked body or local authority for their statutory work
f) Education
Download is for use by primary, secondary and tertiary educational purposes
g) LERC work
Download is for use by a local environmental records centre to support the provision of its services

The description of each reason is displayed in italics below the dropdown box after selecting the individual reason.

Which would be the appropriate use type for an NGO land manager where there is no intention of further publication?

Hi,

I think that you can select c): Professional researcher/publisher.

I appreciate that the name and description doesn't fit particularly well to your work. The description only says that the work may lead to a publication.

Perhaps we should tweak some of the names and descriptions. Thank you for highlighting it.
