Topic: Dictionary Upgrades

Hello,
I have just tried to find out which dictionaries we need to download to run an upgrade. Our Recorder6 has version 000000040 on it.
On looking at the Dictionary Upgrade page here http://www.recorder6.info/page28.html the list at the bottom has the following:

0000004C - 0000004E  (Needs  R6 version 6.26.2 or above)  - click here further detail
00000049 - 0000004B  (Needs  R6 version 6.26.2 or above)  - click here further detail
00000046 - 00000048  (Needs  R6 version 6.26.2 or above)  - click here further detail
00000041 - 00000045  (Needs  R6 version 6.26.2 or above)  - click here further detail
0000003Y - 00000040  (Needs  R6 version 6.26.2 or above)
0000003U - 0000003X  (Needs  R6 version 6.26.2 or above)
0000003C - 0000003T   (Needs R6 version 6.25.1 or above)
0000001O - 0000003B   (Needs R6  version 6.14.4 or above.)
00000015 -  0000001N  (Needs R6 version 6.14.4 or above. Very large so run separately
0000000I  - 00000014 (Needs R6 version 6.14.4 or above)
00000000 - 000000H

I THINK I need the top four in this list... but it is not at all clear. If I have got 0000003Y - 000000040 then can I assume I have got all the one's below it in this list?? (they do not all seem to match one's that are in the JNCC list here http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/page-4615

Also when I click 'click here further detail' there is a list of the top four plus one more i.e. 000004F - 00000004H where is the file for this? Do I need it

I have to get our IT people to do these downloads/upgrades for us because we are on a government network.... so it needs to be really easy to do!

There is also something I have never been sure about. If four upgrades are done one after the other can the 4 Indexes be run at the end ie just once? Its all a bit ambiguous.

Many thanks
Philippa

Re: Dictionary Upgrades

Hi

If you are up to 00000040 you need the ones above it only. There are 5 and I have corrected the web  site. The dictionary  upgrade are numbered sequentially using  R6 keys. For more information see  http://www.recorder6.info/page45.html

An upgrade file may be a .zip or .sql file. There is also usually a .ini file for each .zip upgrade.

A download (eg. 00000041-00000045.zip) contains a set of upgrade files which need to be run together.  The download file needs to be unzipped into the R6 scripts folder. However, what often causes confusion is that there is just one unzip to do - there should be no .mdb files in the scripts folder.  The other thing which often happens is that the downloaded zip file is put in the scripts folder and unzipped there. This is fine, but the actual download file must be deleted or moved from the scripts folder before the upgrade is run.

It doesn't matter if older upgrades are in the scripts folder as they will be ignored, but you can delete the contents of the scripts folder before adding new files which makes it easier to check what is there.

You can run multiple upgrades in one go.  To bring you up to date you need  to download the five upgrade sets and unzip them into the scripts folder.  If you delete what is in the scripts  folder first, so that you should end up with 32 files in the folder. There should be 12 zip files, 12 ini files and 8 sql files.  Run the upgrade and when it finishes run the four index rebuilds.

Some  of the earlier upgrades shown on the JNCC site have been consolidated into fewer zip files, but all the individual files are the same. These are all earlier than you need.

Summary of files for upgrade 41-4k - these files should be in the scripts folder

.zip and corresponding .ini  files 43,44,46,47,49,4A,4C,4D,4F,4G.4I.4J
.sql files 41,42,45,48,4B,4E,4H,4K
