Topic: EasyMaps absence records problem

Hi

Compare the EasyMap for Wakame with the Atlas map.

The EasyMap shows more records.

Selecting an area on the Atlas map where the EasyMap shows records but the Atlas map is blank, e.g. Tyneside, finds records such as https://records.nbnatlas.org/occurrence … c4c68edf61

This is an absence record.

My conclusion is that the EasyMap does not distinguish between presence and absence records and therefore gives a false impression of distribution.

Thank you for you comment about EasyMap and your conclusion that it does not distinguish between presence and absence records.

Looks like the code may need to be fixed so we'll add it to our issues log for attention.

Hi Jim,
   I see the problem, and you're right. The Atlas map now has an additional filter query added:
fq=-occurrence_status:absent
   this needs adding to all the queries in EasyMap I think
(i.e. in https://github.com/DuncanRowland/EasyMa … /server.py)
   This isn't a big change, but it does need doing (and testing).
