Topic: NBNExchange Addin

I plan to upload my data to NBN but having trouble with installing NBN Exchange Addin into R6 version 6.25 and Dictionary 3B on a W10 laptop.

First off I made the mistake of downloading and installing NBNExchangeAddin v6.17. It would not work and caused R6 to crash while running a report.  I then realised my mistake and then removed the NBNExchange Addin (at least I thought I had).  Found the NBNExchange Addin ocx file still in C:\Recorder 6\Addins.  Deleted the file there. R6 shut down and restarted. On R6 startup got the message to say that NBNExchange Addin could not be loaded, with a list of the successfully loaded addins . NBN Exchange no longer appeared  in the installed Addins list. Closed R6.

Next I downloaded NBNExchange Addin v6.23 and unzipped it.

Started R6 again.
Tools>Install>Addin Modules then selected. Navigated to NBNExchangeAddinNu.dll and selected it. Message said Addin installed successfully.. The NBNExchange Addin appears in the Addins Configuration List. Clicked OK.  Then got screen warning that "unable to load NBNExchange.NBNExchange Format : The specified module could not be found". Clicked OK.
To see if anything  actually worked, I selected a Survey, then Tools>Export Data. Selected Export Type"NBNExchange Format v6.23" from the Export Type dropdown. Selected a destination for the files. Then clicked OK.  Then got unhandled error message "Specified module could not be found...."
Full text of error message attached

Any idea where I go from here? How do I clear out all aspects of the Addin installation and start again?
I've read Paul Stevens' post of 29/2/2016 but this looks like something different.

Any help much appreciated.

Re: NBNExchange Addin

I am not sure about the reason for this. It may be something left over from the 6.17 addin. Please could you look in Recorder 6 help. Click on About Recorder 6 then on the 'More' tab. Scroll down this and near the bottom you should find a list of the addin modules. What is listed there for the NBNExchange Addin.

Re: NBNExchange Addin

Hi Mike......attached is a copy/paste of the contents of R6>About>More

Addins are towards end of list

Looks like only Addin v 6.23 is mentioned.

Re: NBNExchange Addin

I don't think the addin has registered. Firstly, can you try again by removing the addin through R6. Then delete the file from the addins folder and try again with an installation.

Did you install  the other addins in the same way ?

Re: NBNExchange Addin

I have a feeling the problems I am having have something to do with the installation of NBNExch v6.17 There is something being left behind somewhere causing the problem.

I deleted the 6.23 NBN addin from the list in Tools>Install>Addin Module. When I do this I get the "unable to load the addin" message

I found the NBNExchange AddinNu. dll still in the C:\Recorder6|Addins folder so I deleted it

When I boot up R6 afresh I get the same  screen message about being "unable to load the NBNExchange addin"straight after password entry although it has already been deleted (see screenshot attached to this post). A file called AddinLoadFailed.txt also appears in the C:\Recorder6\Addins folder. I deleted this also.

A fresh installation of the NBNExchange Addin v6.23appears to go smoothly....running a report brings up the unhandled error message as before (see attachment to yesterday's post). Another deletion carried out as above.

Rebooting R6 again brings up the "unable to load Addin" message.

Re: NBNExchange Addin

Can you look in the registry with regedit. HKey Local machine/Software/WOE6432Node/Dorset Software/Recorder 6/Installed Addins. If the NBNExchangeAddin is there can you delete it and try again with the install.   If this doesn't work I will try and duplicate the problem on a W10 machine.

Re: NBNExchange Addin

Yes that did the job, thanks Mike. Item in Registry deleted. Addin reinstalled. No queer error messages. Tested with a report. All the expected files produced.

Many thanks
