Re: Bug fixes/enhancements to be included in next version of Recorder 6

The next version of Recorder 6 is currently being developed on our behalf by Dorset Software. This version will contain a number of bug fixes as well as significant enhancements to the package.

These enhancements were prioritised by the newly established Recorder User Steering Group and JNCC in November 2007, and have been funded by DEFRA/Natural England as part of an initiative led by Sussex Biodiversity Records Centre to improve the efficiency of data collation within local record centres.

A number of enhancements are also being developed by Zentrum fur Biodokumentation (Germany), National Parks and Wildlife Service (Ireland) and Luxembourg National Museum of Natural History. For a full list of the bug fixes and enhancements included in the next version please see 'CCNsNextVersionForForum2008-02-04.zip' available to download from the uploads page - see http://forums.nbn.org.uk/uploads.php

You can also find further information on the new functionality being developed in 'Copy of Annex 1 Proposed enhancements from V1-3-7.zip' also provided on the uploads page (requirements highlighted in yellow are being covered by changes in the next version).

We are due to receive a beta copy of the new version from Dorset Software on the 14th March, but will need a number of weeks to test, re-develop and deliver the upgrade to existing copies and full installation CD's.

We will provide regular updates on our progress once we recieve the beta copy in March, but in the meantime, if you have any queries regarding the above please post them here or email: Recorder@jncc.gov.uk.

Many thanks and best wishes,
