Topic: Deleting data

I would like to delete some data on mass without having to delete every single entry before I can delete the survey or event.  Is that possible?

The data has certain characteristics - I am not the custodian for one set; the other set has no abundancy data attached to it.

Thanks for your help

Re: Deleting data

You can delete a whole Survey. Highlight  it and right click. Choose Batch Updates/System Supplied/Delete and choose  JNCCDel5Records. This will delete the whole Survey and everything in it.  Close the Observation hierarchy when the delete is complete and then reopen it.   You can delete a Survey Event  or a Sample in the same way. If you want to use some rules to delete records which match a particular criteria, then this is a bit more complicate and would involve adapting JNCCDel5Records.

Re: Deleting data

Thanks Mike that is great

As you know I entered an entire years worth of data without abundance which I need to delete. These are mixed in with the real data that does contain the data - i.e. there are 2 events for each site and date.

In addition I seem to have some blank abundance records from the spreadsheets that I have imported. There are second records for all of these which do contain the data.

If it would help I can email you a screen shot of my hierarchy so that you can see my set up

Re: Deleting data

Please send me the screen shots. If there are rules we can use a Batch Update to delete the records not required. Might actually be better to move the records into a temporary Survey, which you can review before deleting.
