Topic: Recorder 6 - Upgrade v.6.24.0 Build 280

This upgrade  is now available at http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/page-4612 . Please note that if upgrading from V6.23 then there is no need to rebuild the index table, however, if you are upgrading from an earlier version the index tables must be rebuilt.

The upgrade includes a number of minor bug fixes and changes. The main change is that XML Reports and Batch Updates will now accepts up to 255 characters in csv file fields rather than 100.

Thanks Mike
you might want to update the first paragraph on the 'latest version' page (http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/page-4612) which still says 'The latest version is 6.22.2.'

Re: Recorder 6 - Upgrade v.6.24.0 Build 280

Hi,

we would like to upgrade from version 6.22.2.273 to version 6.24.0 our concern is; will this affect the workstation client tool? or will it just affect the server? This will affect how we go about this and the staff required to undertake it.

Regards

Bryan

Re: Recorder 6 - Upgrade v.6.24.0 Build 280

The upgrade does two things. Firstly it upgrades the database by making changes to the tables, user  defined functions etc. Secondly, it replaces the Recorder 6 application on the server with the latest version. The upgrade does nof make any changes on the workstations. The upgrade takes only a few minutes to run. It needs to be run from one of the  workstations as it uses the workstation registry to obtain the sql instance and location if the application. The  main thing to note is that the person running the upgrade must have sufficient permissions on the Sql instance to make the changes and permissions on the server to replace the application. Following some updates users may be required to use Recorder 6 to rebuild the 4 index tables.
