I'd heard that they shut it down for a short period due to the floods. Could that be a reasons?

It was back up relatively quickly.. but intermittent for me at the moment (very slow). Seemed fine over Christmas.

The Webservices Taxon Dictionary was horrendously slow last night (04/01/2016) - not tried it as yet today.

It came back eventually - it is so frustrating that system is still so unstable. I know you do the best you can, but I do hope that the new system is not too far away.
