Topic: Reporting on groups/Individuals

I have been trying to pull out records associated with individuals that are members (and have been assigned to) a particular group using the wizard.

Members of the group(s) are linked through the 'Assocs.' tab on the individuals entry.

On running the wizard i set a source filter as individuals then once at that screen i select the relevant group. The report appears to run (takes a long time and looks like it's hung) then eventually completes with no errors. However, the records table is blank (which i know not to be correct).

What am i doing wrong?
We're running 6.23.2.279 on a Windows 7 machine and there have been no other problems.

As an aside is it possible to report on a list of people in the form of a rucksack? Would have though this was the case but i can't find a way to do it.

I can't get this to work and  and 'help' doesn't include it as an option, so don't I think it is something you can do.  I have had a quick look to see if it is possible to do it with an additional filter. This is possible, but it will not be straightforward. It can easily be done with an XML report, but I appreciate these lack the flexibility of the Wizard.

Re: Reporting on groups/Individuals

I have had a go at adding an Additional Filter which will filter for records for an individual associated with a specified  person or organisation.  If used for people associated with an individual it doesn't pick up records for that individual, unless they are associated with themselves (which is allowed).

This will need management studio to install. Running the SQL in Management Studio will create a new additional filter called 'Associate (Name or Key)'.  The name entered in the filter must be the Forename,Initials and Surname entered as shown against the individual who has associates. This is without any spaces. For example Fred M. Smith  needs to be entered as FredM.Smith. For Organisations the full name or the Acronym  need to be entered. However, for both Individuals and Organisations 'Starts with' and 'Contains' will work. For example using Contains and entering 'Smith' will find all the entries for anyone associated with anyone named Smith.  'Starts With' could be useful for Organisations with long names.   The key can also be used. This can be obtained from the Name and  Addresses screen using the 'I' button and can be pasted into the filter.

Re: Reporting on groups/Individuals

Hi Mike, Thanks for taking the time to do this. I have tried to use the filter to report on records of individuals associated with an organisation and it is still producing a blank report. When i ran the SQL the message stated it said it only affected 1 row, is that correct?

My mistake - and I didn't choose a good example to test it on. The attached should fix it. I have alo updated the original for anyone else  who would like to try it.
