Topic: Free data - footpaths

Still no sign of OS (or Local Authorities) releasing free ROW data.
This despite the Guardian's "free our data campaign".
What could be more "ours" than GIS data about where we are allowed to walk in the countryside?

Don't ignore this issue just because you have access to your LA's ROW data, it's a fundamental element for us QGIS users at home.

Look at http://footpathmaps.com/# for the current offering, it doesn't work at all if you previously downloaded some OS data that same day. Why? It's not providing downloadable data - not that I can find.

Still a long way to go.

There's a lot less data on the OS free raster maps than on their 1:50,000, no footpaths for a start.

Thanks Charlie. downloaded Notts and it works fine.
That's 86 authorities providing their data, that's not all of them is it?

No, a few missing - I assume Barry has tried to get the rest but been refused/not released on open terms; mostly got them via data.gov.uk, FOI and direct requests I think.
