Topic: Import Wizard

Can someone answer me a question about the Import Wizard?

I want to import a large number of records from a spreadsheet to R6 via the Import Wizard. There are, among others, fields for Site, VC number and altitude. When a new site is created manually as part of the import process why do VC number, and altitude not come through to the locations at the end of the process?

Also, Location Description is not handled as an attribute in the Import Wizard. Is this something that can be added?

Re: Import Wizard

Vice County may not be processed  as think . VC isn't allocated to a Location, but is a special form of Location. If there is no Location, but there is a VC, then  the Sample/Survey Event gets the Location_Key of the Vice County.

Altitude generates a Sample measurement.

Adding any data to the Locations or adding things like Location Admin Areas (VC's) wouldn't be easy, which is why I suspect it wasn't done in the first place. Imagine the situation where a Location in the import wizard (identified by name) has a number of different combinations of VC's. descriptions etc. All these factors then need to be taken into consideration in matching to existing locations, or creating new ones. However, I suspect something could be done, even if there were some restrictions.
