Topic: Workstation Install
Hi,
Just trying to do a worstation install on a new PC. It's Windows 7 64bit, which I've never used before and the normal procedures do not seem to work. Is there a different method for Windows 7 64bit?
Cheers,
Dave

It should work in the normal way. How far is it getting and what if any error messages are you getting .
Hi Mike,
The install appears to run OK but then clicking on the icon, I get the Recorder error message with options to Restart or Close the Application. There appear to be no Registry entries, which are there on other PC's.
When doing complete installs for Windows 7, I seem to remember that you shouln't install to Program Files so I amended that parameter, the rest I accepted.
The error message appears to say that there is no "Object Sheet File Path."

The registry entries for the file paths should be in the same place as on a 32bit machine. HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Dorset Software\Recorder 6\Settings. The registry entries for the Addins and SQL Version are under Wow6432Node on a 64 bit machine.
If the registry entries aren't there is is possible that the person running the install did not have sufficient permissions on the workstation to update the registry. If you can, try specifically running the workstation install as Admin. by right clicking on workstationsetup.exe and choosing run as administrator.
Search the registry on the affected workstation for Object Sheet File Path. On our system it is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dorset Software\Recorder 6\Settings. Set it to point to the Object Sheet folder in the main Recorder 6 folder on the server. Should work then (unless any other settings are missing).
Did you run the workstation setup as admin?
This would not be caused by changing the destination folder on setup. That just determines where map files and uninstall stuff goes.
Hi Mike/Rob
Uninstalled and re-installed and checked everything. Eventually realised that the error message was absolutely correct. The Object Sheet path was incorrect. It was saying that the Object Sheet was in User Files. I amended that and it runs OK now.
Thanks for your help.
