Topic: Form for Entering grid of sightings shows all species

I using the "Sample with Occurrences" form to build a multiple species entry form similar to iRecord's ./irecord/enter-record-list

When I view the form, it displays ALL my species in the grid (some 1500) rather than just the one row that I'd expect.

I've fiddled with all sorts of parameters but always get this huge grid (which crashes the browser btw.)

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Re: Form for Entering grid of sightings shows all species

I think we've all done this!

In the configuration for Species, there are two Species List settings.

The first, just called Species List, creates a grid containing all species in your list. I bet that is what you have done. Great for creating a traditional type of check list with a small number of species. Rubbish when you have thousands. Clear this field.

The second, Extra Species List, creates a single row of a grid which can be extended with as many instances of species from the list you select as you want. Set this to your species list.

The terminology shows the evolution of Indicia. In the beginning we were pretty pleased with a simple checklist. When we wanted to extend that with more species we added an extra species list and used the two together. Today, most implementations use the extra species list alone.
